It all started with a water pump. That was the beginning of our journey, and we haven't stopped moving forward since.

1974

Water marks the beginning of everything
Rafael Sabaté founded Hidrotarraco with a clear vision: to provide comprehensive water supply service to the hydraulic sector.
The first store was located on Jaume I street in Tarragona, consolidating the birth of the company in the heart of the city.
1980

We created our industry department
With the arrival of Benedicte Piqué, we launched the industrial department at Hidrotarraco.
This department has been key to our relationships with water companies, regional industries, and government entities.
1981

An innovation that changed everything
Our founder, Rafael Sabaté, introduced polyethylene to the industry in the province of Tarragona.
His pioneering vision not only modernized our water installations, but also ensured the health and safety of our community by replacing obsolete lead pipes.
This milestone laid the foundation for our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in water supply.
1982

Gaining recognition
Hidrotarraco took a significant step forward by participating in its first industry trade fair at Expro Reus.
This milestone represented our commitment to visibility and connecting with the regional industry.
1984

The beginning of our expansion
We inaugurated our second branch in Vendrell. A milestone that not only expands our presence, but also underscores our commitment to growth and expansion.
This step reflects our constant search to improve and provide an even closer and more efficient service to our clients.
1986

A year with a rich history
We opened our branch in Reus. A new meeting point with our clients, full of opportunities and possibilities to continue growing together.
We joined the prestigious TERMOCLUB buying group as a partner, consolidating our position and collaborating closely with other industry leaders to offer the best products and services to our clients.
With the arrival of Jose Maria Vilanova, we created the building department. Until then, we focused exclusively on cold water supply, but with this addition, we expanded our services to include hot water and heating, thus satisfying our clients' needs in a more comprehensive and effective way.
1988

The birth of SIRHSA is born
We identified the need to offer hydraulic repair services. Initially, we carried out these repairs within our own facilities.
However, in 1988 we took a major step forward by establishing a dedicated sister company for this purpose: SIRHSA.
This decision demonstrated our continuous commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction—values that remain central to our business philosophy today.
1989

We continue to expand
We celebrate a new achievement with the opening of our delegation in Valls.
This significant step expands our local presence and brings us even closer to our customers in the region.
1992

Recolation to the Riu Clar industrial park
We relocated our headquarters, warehouse, and logistics to the Riu Clar industrial park.
This strategic move allowed us to optimize our operations and provide an even more efficient service to our clients.
1996

The arrival of the new generation
David Sabaté became the general manager, marking the transition to the second generation of leadership at Hidrotarraco.
As the son of the founder, Rafael Sabaté, David has been involved in the company since its inception, serving in various roles before stepping into management.
His appointment reflects not only an evolution in leadership, but also a deep connection to the company's history and legacy.
1999

Progress drives our improvement
The first store, opened in 1974, relocated from Jaume I street to 14 Torres Jordi street in Tarragona.
This move marked a new chapter in our history, maintaining our presence in the heart of the city to continue providing our clients with the best service and products.
2004

Expanding our reach even further
We opened our furthest branch to date, located in the Alt Penedès region, in Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona.
2006

Expanding into the province of Lleida
We opened our first branch in the province of Lleida, specifically in the Segrià region. This strategic move demonstrates our commitment to local proximity and serving different regions.
To bring this project to life, we took over the management of the premises by acquiring Soldevila, a company that was the original owner of the location and operated in the same sector.
This integration allowed us to establish a solid presence in the area, enriching our expertise and knowledge within the local market.
2017

Reinventing ourselves
We began a major transformation with the renovation of our headquarters.
This space became the epicenter for technical and logistical advice, adapting to new technologies and the evolving needs driven by our team's growth.
With this renovation, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence by providing a modern and functional environment.
2023

Sustainable mobility
In line with our commitment to sustainability, we acquired two 100% electric cars for our company staff. Currently, we continue working to progressively introduce more vehicles into our fleet.
